April is coming

I want to preface this blog by stating a disclaimer. No, I do not consider myself an expert in Game of Thrones history, trivia, wisdom, or knowledge, in any way, shape, or form. In fact, at this time I am only on A Storm of Swords in my reading of the series, so for those of you who are die-hard fans, you've probably already stopped reading this.

That being said, I do really and truly enjoy Game of Thrones and everything related to it. I know it doesn't mean much, but I am very caught up on the HBO series and have probably watched the entire thing at least five times. I read the Game of Thrones Wiki page all the time, and am pretty familiar with a lot of the expanded universe, having just received the eagerly-awaited The World of Ice and Fire anthology for Christmas.

I have even set a firm goal for myself to finish the entire book series before April so that I am 100% caught up in everything related to A Song of Ice and Fire; including the novel A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms as well. This is also in preparation to meet the possible release date of The Winds of Winter by March, so that I can be a part of the hype it is sure to produce.

With all of that out in the open now, you are sure to know that most of what I will be writing about in this blog is my own opinion. Aside from that, I will be presenting facts straight from the books in order to help you as a reader form your own viewpoint on whatever theory, controversy, or issue I am presenting.

This blog will serve as a reference of entertainment for those like me who are counting down the days until the season six premiere. Like seriously, I'm really fucking excited, and hopefully you are as well. Like I said before, hopefully you'll get a laugh or two out of reading some of these posts, as they allow me to share my enthusiasm for A Song of Ice and Fire with the rest of the fan base.

All of that said, I want to touch briefly on the HBO series and the next season.

I'm sure you've heard it a hundred times before, but beware. This post is DARK and full of SPOILERS.

Since the show's beginning in 2011, we've seen a lot of different assholes sit on the "world's most uncomfortable chair".We felt a tug on our heart strings as Sean Bean, as well as every other single fucking character who ever came in contact with him was killed off, blinded, or jumped off a cliff to their uncertain future.

We cheered in pure delight as that bratty blonde piece of shit choked on his own saliva at his own wedding feast (seriously that was glorious) and were probably really confused when we found out who actually killed him (for those who didn't read the books of course). Does that mean Margaery is single?

We saw Pedro Pascal get his head crushed like a grape after we were totally sure that he had won the fight, but he just didn't like the Mountain's tone. We witnessed perhaps the greatest act of treason in the Seven Kingdoms in Jaime and Cersei's incest, that went completely unpunished until like the second-to-last episode.

We saw Stannis Baratheon kill his own brother with a demon child, and then proceeded to kill his own child by burning her at the stake to please the ever-so-graceful Lord of Light. His wife watched emotionless and did absolutely nothing until it was totally too late, and then proceeded to kill herself. World's greatest dad, am I right?

And of course, we wept in pure and utter agony (you know you did) as the beloved bastard Jon Snow, who now definitely does not know anything, was stabbed to death by his own "brothers" in a scheme orchestrated by some random kid with a stupid name. Did you see his eyes flash? Cuz I sure as hell might have. In the books he can Warg; it's on people.

God dammit, George, why do you do this to us?

Yes, it's been a long road, and I cannot wait to see what season six has in store for us viewers. I will be doing a full preview of season six, as well as my personal predictions, in a later post so keep on the lookout for that.

Thank you for your audience.

Until next time,

Night gathers, and now my Watch begins.
